This beautiful Celestite Necklace is formed into a modified triangle shape which is 1 3/4" long at it's longest point and 1' wide at it's widest. The color is a gorgeous light blue set in a handcrafted sterling silver setting. It comes with a 20' double rope sterling chain.
Celestite and Celestine are the same gemstone. It is found in Peru, Madagascar, Italy, Poland, Spain, Ontario and Ohio. The name came from the Latin word meaning celestial due to it's beautiful sky-blue color. It is a 3.5 on the Mohs hardness scale which puts it as a soft gem and must be cared for gently. If done so, it will last many years.
This gem is from the high Andes of Peru in the Cerro de Pasco mining area. It is found at more than fourteen thousand feet. We purchased the rough gem on our June '22 trip to Peru. The rock was created by the God of Creation. The lapidary work and silversmithing were both done by Travel Ore Designs Artist, Mark Nelson of Fort Collins, CO.
This is truly a one of a kind piece of artisan fine jewelry. Additional pieces can be special ordered as supplies last.
