This teardrop Mexican black obsidian pendant is set in sterling silver and comes with a sterling silver chain. It measures 1.3 " in length.
Obsidian is very shiny once cut and polished and this piece does not disappoint as it is a very shiny stone. This sparkly black necklace would look great with any color clothing underneath it and would really pop.
Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass. It occurs when lava cools rapidly without crystal growth. It is a very sharp rock and has been used historically to make weapons and tools as well as ornamental items. The mineral was first discovered in Mesopotamia in antiquity. Ancient Ethiopian tools have been found dating back thousands of years.
The lapidary and sterling work was done in our Colorado studio by Travel Ore Designs Jeweler, Mark Nelson. Additional pieces can be special ordered to complete a matching set as supplies last.
